Prayer to correct themself from a defect

You have given me, O my God, the intelligence to distinguish what is good from what is bad; however, as long as I recognize that something is wrong, I am guilty of not trying to resist it.
Protect me from the pride which might prevent me from realizing my faults and from the evil Spirits which might excite me to persevere in them.

You have not created me guilty, because you are just, but with equal aptitude for Good and Evil; if I have followed the wrong path, it is by effect of my free will. But for the reason that I have had to do Evil, I have the reason to do Good, and therefore the reason to change my path.
My present defects are a remnant of the imperfections I have kept from my previous existences; it is my original sin which I can get rid of by my will and with the assistance of good Spirits.
Good Spirits who protect me, and you especially, my guardian angel, give me the strength to resist bad suggestions, and to come out victorious in the struggle.
Faults are the barriers which separate us from God, and each defect tamed is a step made in the path of advancement which must bring me nearer to him.
The Lord, in his infinite mercy, has deigned to grant me this present existence so that it may serve for my advancement; good Spirits, help me to make good use of it so that it may not be lost to me and so that, when it pleases God to draw me out of it, I may come out better than I went in.
