Prayers for Lent and Easter

Each year, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday. For 40 days (not including Sundays), Christians are invited, through prayer, penance and almsgiving, to discern the priorities in their lives.

The forty days of Lent refer to the 40 days Christ spent in the desert between his baptism and the beginning of his public life. He fought a spiritual battle from which he emerged victorious.

Christians are thus invited to look to Christ to "set aside" so as to be more receptive to the Word of God and "rise" with Christ at Easter.

Here are a few prayers to inspire you throughout this period of Lent, leading up to Easter, Christ's Resurrection.
