Saint Gummarus is invoked for the healing of hernias.
After almost ten years of war, Saint Gummarus returned to his home where he had the pain of finding his place.
God, who had touched him with his grace, inspired forgiveness in him and Saint Gummarus decided, for the love of God, to dedicate his life to the poor and their consolation.
Miracles marked his path. One day, while he was teaching poor reapers gentleness and resignation, they complained of thirst. At the request of the saint, a fountain of living water sprang up at their feet. For a long time, the sick found there a sure remedy for their ills and many healings took place there.

INVOCATION:
Almighty God, who teach us to have recourse unceasingly to you and to the intercession of your saints, so that our sufferings may be sanctified by the imitation of their virtues, and that we obtain our healing by the merit of their prayers, deign, O my God, to hear us so that we may bless and praise you throughout eternity. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Gummarus, whom the sick with hernias invoke with confidence, pray for us.

PRAYER:
Woe to me! for in fleeing the madness of the cross, as the world still calls it, I have truly become in this world the greatest of all fools. Woe to me! for by refusing to enter into your holy wounds, to soften them with my love, I myself have deserved to be cruelly wounded by the sins which cover my soul. My misery is so great that I cannot find words to express it. Have mercy on me, Lord, in your goodness. So be it.
