Saints
Saint Eligius was born near Limoges. He was a great friend of King Dagobert. The protection of cattle is generally entrusted to Saint Eligius. It is also invoked when we have kidney pain.
But, although covered with goods and riches by the king, he distributed everything to the poor and kept for himself only the leftovers when the poor had finished the meal he served them. He had to accept the office of bishop of Noyon where he continued his apostolate.
INVOCATION
I beseech you, Lord, God of goodness and truth, by the merits of Saint Eligius and by those of all your saints, to deign to grant your protection to this flock. Heal me, Lord, of these kidney aches from which I suffer so much. Lord, answer my prayer and may the Almighty and merciful Lord grant me my request which I present to him through Saint Eligius.
Great Saint Eligius, protector of the flocks, so helpful to all who call on you with confidence, pray for me.
PRAYER
My Lord and my God, I expose to you the wounds of my soul: you are the healing physician, and I am sick; you are merciful, and I am miserable; and although you know my misery and my illness better than I do, I feel and recognize it before you. I confess my unworthiness and helplessness; but if you cast your eyes on your Son Jesus Christ, who shed his blood for my sins, you will grant me the grace which I humbly ask of you by the sighs of my heart and the tears of my eyes. So be it.
