Invocation to Saint Elmo, (Peter González, Pedro González Telmo, or Saint Telmo) against the perils of the sea, to be protected from heavy storms and obtain the grace to return safely

Saint Elmo is also honored in Spain under the name of Gonzalès. He is the patron saint of sailors and they invoke him with confidence and have often been saved thanks to his intercession. We therefore invoke Saint Elmo against the perils of the sea, to be protected from strong storms and to obtain the grace of returning home safely.
It is also invoked to obtain healing from uncontrollable sneezing.

INVOCATION
We beseech you, Lord, to glorify your name and the virtues of your servant Saint Elmo-Gonzalès by preserving us from all danger, and by surrounding us with the divine protection, which we never cease to need in all the accidents of our life. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Elmo, who gives us calm in the storm and who is the protector of those who are at sea, pray for us.

PRAYER
Do you not command us, Lord, to take up the defense of the innocent? Do you not make it a law for us not to suffer that strength and injustice oppress weakness? I claim, great God, this holy law in my favor, and I ask you, for my Innocence, for the same help which you order us to protect and to defend that of our brothers. Yes, great God, may all peoples see that your servants have a protector in heaven, always ready to declare himself for them. Make known to them sensibly that all the malice of men can do nothing against those whom you cover under the shadow of your wings; and that you know, when necessary, to make burst your power by the most visible signs of your protection on them. The peoples struck by these wonders will come in crowds to surround your altars; the number of your worshipers will multiply; the faith of the righteous will be awakened and strengthened; they will no longer fear godliness, like a despised and abandoned party, and trust in your promises will make them worthy of seeing it one day fulfilled. So be it.
