Saints
Saint Denis was born in Athens in the first century of the Christian era. Converted by Saint Paul, he gave up glory, friendships, fortune, to put himself at the service of Christ.
After having taught in Athens, he went to Rome to put himself at the disposal of the Pope who sent him to evangelize the Gauls. Saint Denis arrived in Paris where his teachings converted a crowd of pagans.
Thrown into prison, he had the good fortune to be able to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass there and to be consoled there by a vision of the Savior. After suffering martyrdom, his head was severed. A great miracle then took place. Saint Denis got up and went to carry his head a few kilometers, to the place called Saint-Denis.
Saint Denis is particularly invoked against the afflictions and diseases that afflict his family.
INVOCATION
O Lord Jesus, you who are the glory of the martyrs, make us participate in the prayers and merits of Saint Denis, so that we can bless you on this earth and throughout eternity. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Denis, who is for us, with God, the channel of the most special favors, pray for us.
PRAYER
Lord, look favorably upon your servants and your maidservants; make this family similar to that in which you spent your youth: may the bridegroom be good, patient, indulgent like Saint Joseph; the chaste wife, tender and pious like the Blessed Virgin; submissive and respectful children like you. O God, impart in us the spirit of peace, harmony and charity, so that we may all be together but one soul and one heart; give us faithfulness in your holy law, and, lead us all to the heavenly homeland, where you stand alone as father, son, husband and friend. So be it.
