First day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, how much I love to come and pray at the foot of your miraculous image! It always awakens in my soul the feelings of the most lively and filial trust. In your arms I see Jesus, my Saviour and my God. He is the Almighty, the absolute Master of life and death, the sovereign dispenser of all good and grace. And you are his Mother! You therefore have every right to ask Him and every right to be granted it. He has proved, moreover, that he neither knows nor wants to refuse you anything.
I therefore turn to your almighty intercession, O Mother of Jesus, and beg you to grant me grace... (Name here the intentions of the novena). I will pray to you with confidence, confident that you will pray for me.

Second day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, in this trembling Jesus whom you hold against your heart, you see not only the Son of God, your Son, but all men, who have become, by the will of God and by your acceptance, your true children. You do not forget the scene on Calvary, where, by divine substitution, your expiring Jesus has asked you to find him in each one of us. This Jesus who runs to throw himself into your arms, frightened by the prospect of the cross, and who seeks your defence and consolation, it is every soul that suffers, it is my soul that comes at this moment to assert its rights to your tenderness and your protection.
O my Mother, with this filial simplicity, I come to tell you how happy I am to be your child, how great is my love for you. I have also come to tell you my request; you know it: O Mother, answer me.

Third day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, yes, I love to contemplate your blessed image. She speaks to me eloquently of all your greatness. I see your glorious title of Mother of God inscribed on it! I see the Archangel Gabriel, the divine Ambassador who greeted you "full of grace". I see the Archangel Saint Michael, whose presence reminds us that you command the heavenly militia. In your hand you hold the King of kings. All this tells me again that you are the Blessed Woman among all, the most beautiful ornament in the universe, the only creature deemed worthy of becoming the Mother of the Incarnate Word. You are the Immaculate, the most Holy, the masterpiece of the Most High, the abyss of all perfection. You are the Queen of earth and heaven.
O admirable Mother! I am pleased to proclaim your holiness and your glories. Far from frightening me, your incomparable greatness only increases my confidence. If God has made you so holy and powerful, it is for our salvation, and if you rejoice in your divine privileges, it is because they allow you to help us better. O incomparable Mother, grant me the grace I ask for from your sovereign power.

Fourth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, your sweet image smiles on our exiled hearts. You appear to us as the sacred Stem on which the Flower of all purity and virtue, your Jesus, blooms. Offered thus by your maternal hands, he wins more sweetly the love of our hearts. On your forehead I see a radiant star shining. Are you not, in fact, the "Morning Star" that announced the day of salvation and redemption, promising us the unending day of blessed eternity?
Are you not the "Star of the Sea" who radiates hope in the midst of the darkest storms?
O kind Mother, how light you make the burden of duty light and how sweet is the yoke of Jesus Christ! Also your memory brings joy to my heart; your name alone brings peace to my restless soul. Let me always say to you again: O Mother so worthy of being loved, I love you! Through you and with you, I love your Divine Son! O our hope, hear me!

Fifth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I find, in your holy image, another pressing reason to hope in your goodness. You show yourself to be the Mother of Sorrows. It is Jesus, crucified in his heart before being crucified in his flesh, whom you embrace in your arms. The painful vision of the instruments of his passion makes him shudder; you suffer with him and this was the martyrdom of your whole life. I therefore understand the excellence of your merits, the reality of your title of redeemer of men and the omnipotence of your intercession for divine justice.
Like you, O Mary, I sympathise with the sufferings of your son, and like him, I sympathise with your maternal sufferings. My compassion is all the more keenly felt because it was my sins which, by attaching Jesus to the cross, tortured your loving soul. Today I pray in the name of your sorrows. Give me the contrition of my sins and the courage to avoid them. Please accept also my request that I address to you in this novena.

Sixth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, your touching image tells me: you have suffered and suffered much. Because you are good and because you are our Mother, suffering has made you compassionate to our sorrows; all the more so, since you have cost us more, we are dearer to you. This compassion for us I see it in your eyes imbued with a tender mercy, which is less fixed on your Divine Son than on your poor children of the earth. How sweet it is for the overwhelmed soul to meet a friendly heart that knows how to sympathize! But when this heart is that of a mother, and of a mother such as you, it is the supreme consolation of life.
At your feet, therefore, I have just regained courage. O compassionate Mother! I am sure you will not abandon your child. Hear the cry of my misery, say to my soul the word that consoles and grant me the favour that I implore from your kindness.

Seventh day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I address you, because it is you I must ask and you must answer me; you are the treasurer of the Good Lord, who wants all grace to pass through your hands. Your image reminds me that you are the Mother of Jesus, the Mother of Sorrows, and that you are my Mother. Mother of Jesus, you have his merits and his heart. Mother of Sorrows, your sufferings, together with those of Jesus, have been the treasure of Redemption. Mother of Men, you have accepted the obligation to help us.
Yes, I know that a soul protected by you cannot be abandoned by God nor get lost, and a soul faithful to invoke you is sure of your protection. It is therefore with assurance that I have recourse to you. Obtain for me fidelity to your service, a pledge of perseverance and salvation; obtain for me also the favour which, during this novena, I ask of your maternal tenderness.

Eighth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, a feeling of fear sometimes invades my soul. You are, it is true, powerful and good: yet when I think of my misery, I tremble, and I even find myself daring to dare to address you and implore your favours. But your sweet image seems to say to me: "Trust, my child! Am I not the Mother of Mercy who seeks not merits to reward but evils to heal? Does not my title of Mother of Perpetual Help proclaim that I must relieve all misery? »
It is therefore to your clemency that I appeal today, O Mary; my trust rests on your indulgent and compassionate kindness. It is up to you to protect me, to help me, to console me.
Hail Mary..., Glory be to the Father... and remember him.
Ninth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, here I am at the end of this novena where, every day, I have come to prostrate myself at your feet. Today more than ever, my supplication rises to you, ardent and confident. I cannot doubt it, you have heard my prayer: you will grant me either what I ask for, or an even more precious grace. Through your Son, through your pains, through your merciful love, and above all through your title of Mother of Perpetual Help, hear me! Oh yes, this title of Perpetual Help tells me that I am allowed to insist, that I can, that I must always count on your assistance: at all hours of my life, in all my needs, in all my dangers, in all my sorrows, for all the graces I need.
O my Mother, my trust is so great that from now on I say thank you! Thank you for the graces of the past; thank you for those I expect from your inexhaustible love. Yes, I will pray to you until my last breath, waiting for me to be able to love you, to praise you and to thank you eternally in my heaven. So be it.

REMEMBER, O most merciful Virgin Mary, that there has never been any news that anyone who has sought your protection, implored your assistance or asked your intercession has been abandoned. Motivated by such confidence, O Virgin of Virgins, O Mother, I come to you, and groaning under the weight of my sins, I bow down at your feet. O Mother of the Incarnate Word, do not reject my prayers, but listen to them favourably and deign to answer them. So be it.
