Saint Roch was born around 1350 (traditionally 1295) and lost his parents at a very young age. Consumed by God's desire, he distributed his goods to the poor and became a pilgrim. In Italy, he offered himself to heal the plague victims: O miracle, he touched their hands and healed them.
After many evils and very hard trials, Saint Roch returned to Montpellier and died there; near his body, a tablet was discovered with the words: "Whoever invokes me against the plague will be delivered from this plague".
It is customary to ask Saint Roch for his protection for his fields, his flocks and his house, as well as for the cure of contagious diseases.
He is especially invoked in cases of knee pain.

INVOCATION:
O Almighty and infinitely good God, deliver us, by the merits and the prayers of Saint Roch, from all corrupt air, from the ardor of fever, from plague and from the epidemic of all contagious diseases and from a sudden and unforeseen death, as well as eternal damnation. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Roch, who preserve all plagues and contagious diseases, pray for us.

PRAYER:
I want to pick up the germs of your virtues within me, so that they produce fruit outside. Assist me, so that I no longer remain asleep in laziness, but that I fill my memory with the memory of your precious blood, that I open my mind entirely to the wisdom and the lessons of your word, and that my will, inclined towards you by love, hastens to accomplish faithfully what you have taught it. I will then get drunk on your precious blood, oh sweet Jesus! you will discharge my sins from me; you will tear me away from the society of evil spirits, and you will inscribe me in the book of life. So be it.
