Saint Gérard 1 is invoked by all those who are inconvenienced by ruptures.
He is also invoked to obtain the healing of gout, stone and gravel diseases.
Saint Gerard was bishop of Toul and died in 994 while exercising his ministry.
Before being brought to the episcopate by his virtues, he lived as a hermit in the forest. The miracles he performed were innumerable and the sick came to him to be blessed and healed. A blind man who had bathed his eyes in the water with which he had just washed his hands was immediately healed.

Invocation:
O God, who fill us with joy through the merits and intercession of Blessed Gerard, Bishop of Toul, welcome us favorably and grant us the healing that we ask you urgently and with confidence. Grant, O my God, that all those who faithfully invoke your servant Saint Gerard, always experience the effects of his protection. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Gerard, so powerful in helping us and relieving us in our cruel inner infirmities, pray for us.

Prayer:
My God, make me prudent in my undertakings, courageous in dangers, patient in crossings, and humble in successes.
May I never forget to add attention to my prayers, temperance to my meals, exactness to my jobs, steadfastness to my resolutions. So be it.
