INVOCATION
May it be pleasing to you, Lord, to have these offerings and prayers which we offer you in memory of Blessed Saint Pharaoh, by whose merits we ask you to listen to our wishes and requests on behalf of our sick children. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Pharailde, protector of sick children, intercede for them.
ORAISON
O my Jesus, you instituted the adorable sacrament of the altar; you washed the feet of your Apostles; you gave them the commandment of love; you founded the kingdom of your heavenly Father; and now you are directing your steps to that place which is well known to him who must betray you: for you knew well who was to come from you.
Ah, my Savior, what trouble and anguish you are seized with on this journey! Are you not above all the kings of the earth? Where then, O Lord, are your princes, your generals, and your soldiers? Where are the horses, chariots, servants, and all that make up the retinue of a king? Where is your guard? why is it not there around you to defend you against the enemy's attack, as is the custom of the other kings of the earth?
What! No cheers go before you? I do not see the royal standard flying in the air? Where are the messengers to announce you, and to prepare all that you need? Where is all this pomp and circumstance that amuses and cheers our misery? Are not heaven and earth full of your magnificence?
Why then do you walk without pomp and ceremony? Are you not the one who has millions of creatures at his service? Why then do you walk thus alone with bare feet? Ah, I can guess the cause: you are not now in your kingdom, for it is not of this world.
You have robbed yourself of your glory, and you have taken the form of a slave, and not that of a king. You have become like one of us. You made yourself a slave, so that we might become kings. Lord, protect us. So be it.
