to be known by every good Christian
(Sursum Corda)Jesus the Host is on earth,
but he only touches it
to bring everything back to his love.
Let us leave the land of thought and of heart,
and, near the tabernacle,
we will breathe heavenly air,
the beneficent air of the fatherland.
Let us put at the feet of the divine Master
natural ailments,
worrying concerns,
the agitations of our mind,
and let us rest in his Heart,
this region of peace.
What! Jesus-Host
would make his glory disappear,
his heavenly court to welcome us
in the shadows and the silence,
and we wouldn't have the will to break,
to tear down the shackles
that hold our souls down!
Let us go up by meditation,
prayer, on the upper floor,
where love calls us.
Let's throw our anchor up,
and let us be piloted on the sea
of the world through Jesus the Host.
He asks us for this elevation of spirit
so in keeping with our dignity as a Christian,
if necessary in the presence of our God,
so useful to our eternal interests.
We are made for the sky
we went there by the way of the Tabernacle.
The earth is,
in our immortal existence,
than an accessory whose value
is measured against the designs of Providence.
So, sursum corda!
To stay on high,
that everything is indifferent to us,
apart from the love of the divine Heart.
Like the last word
of the Eucharistic life of Jesus
is the donation of himself,
that the first and the last word
of our worship
be a consecration to his Heart,
an ever-renewed gift of our thoughts,
of all our affections.
His love is enjoying,
when, after having given oneself,
he lives in us.
In this entire donation,
Jesus does not lose anything of himself,
instead of losing,
we win it all
to let him master our soul.
Let us ask our Lord
to give in to the powerful attraction
that his Heart exercises over his faithful adorers.
It is he who tells us:
Bring nothing here but yourselves,
don't thwart the momentum
what does my love want to print to you:
up the eyes, up the desires,
up the affections,
and don't go back down,
you would lose strength, fervor,
peace and joy.
So, sursum corda!
