Saints
This illustrious saint is invoked against kidney cancer and to obtain the conversion of sinners dear to us.
Saint Francis Xavier was the apostle of India and Japan. Born in 1506, he studied brilliantly at the Collège Sainte-Barbe in Paris and taught philosophy. His pride was great.
Having met St. Ignatius of Loyola, he was touched by grace and made his vows in 1534.
Sent by Saint Ignatius on a mission to India, he baptized an incalculable number of infidels there in spite of the difficulty of languages. But God remedied it by giving him the gift of tongues; he performed countless miracles; rose from the dead and triumphed over all difficulties. He died in 1552, while thinking of returning to Europe. But his mission was over and God reminded him of this holy servant.
INVOCATION
By the merits of Saint Francis Xavier, Lord, and having regard to the suffering of your servant, heal me, I beg you. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. So be it.
Saint Francis Xavier, very powerful intercessor for all those who invoke you and to obtain the conversion of sinners, pray without ceasing for us.
PRAYER
He who has received less should not grieve, complain, or envy those who have received more, but rather look only to you, and praise with all his soul your goodness, always ready to spread its gifts so abundantly, so gratuitously, without any respect from anyone. Everything comes from you, and so you must be praised for everything. You know what to give everyone; why this one receives more, this other less; this discernment does not belong to us, but to you, who weigh all the merits. This is why, Lord my God, I regard it as a singular grace that you have granted me few of those gifts which appear from without, and which attract the praise and admiration of men. And, of course, considering my poverty and my abjection, far from being cast down, far from conceiving of any pain or sadness, I must rather feel a sweet consolation, a great joy; for you have chosen, my God, for your friends and your servants, the poor, the humble, those whom the world despises. These were your apostles, whom you made princes over all the earth. So be it.
