This blessed saint is invoked to be preserved from any shipwreck, and for people in danger from the sea.
Saint Valéry was born into a very poor family and spent his early years tending livestock. He learned to read the Bible by himself. Driven by the holy desire to be the servant of God, he sought refuge in a convent and neither the threats nor the prayers of his parents could persuade him to leave.
He rose from the dead and delivered the possessed.
He is particularly honoured at Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme, which has a bone of this saint.

INVOCATION:
Hear, Lord, the prayers we offer you through Saint Valery; deliver us, by its merits, from the dangers which we run, us and all those who are exposed to the dangers of shipwrecks. Deliver us also from all our sins which deserve to bring upon us the punishments of your righteousness. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Valéry, protector of those who are at sea, pray for us.

PRAYER:
O Jesus! innocent Lamb of God, despised, ridiculed by all men, and finding no one to console and relieve you: I bitterly deplore your painful abandonment; I would like to have been near your cross to offer you my services. I thank you for all that you have suffered for my salvation, and I offer you my heart, so that it may share the bitterness with which yours is full; I want, until my last breath, to suffer for the sake of love for you all that you have suffered yourself, in order to always be a victim that is pleasant to you. So be it.
