Saints healing physical illnessesSaint Gerard 2 was a religious of such humility that he was always amazed to be greeted. He thought he was nothing more than a tiny little servant without merits, but his humility itself made him notice it without his knowledge, and several times his brothers surprised him in ecstasy praying to the Virgin, his Mother, for whom he had an extraordinary devotion.
Invocation:
O God, infinitely good and merciful, it is in union with Saint Gerard, to whom you have granted an extraordinary gift of intercession in favor of suffering souls, that I beg you to have pity on their moans and their tears; I come in particular to bring to your feet the memory of those whom I loved and whom you have called back to yourselves; deliver them, O my God, from all their atonement, through the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Gerard, very powerful advocate with God, pray for us, and deliver those who are dear to us.
Prayer:
And you, O Jesus! what shall I do to render you worthy thanksgiving, I who am but a poor creature, but a vile dust? From the soles of the feet to the head, you have sunk into the abyss of suffering, in order to lift me entirely from the abyss of sin; and the waves of pain have penetrated into your soul. I can’t find anything that man can give you back: for even when I had heaven and earth in all their magnificence at my disposal, what would it be compared to all you have done for me? It is therefore up to you, Lord, to give me mercifully what I must return to you for your blessings, and to teach me yet how I must return it to you. So be it.
