Prayer to Saint Benedict to obtain his protection at the time of death

Saint Benedict one day promised Saint Gertrude to assist very especially in their agony the faithful who would have had the devotion to honor his glorious death.

Benedict, the beloved of the Lord,
having fortified
by receiving the Body and Blood of Christ,
was standing in the church,
supported by the arms of his disciples.
Hands raised to the sky,
he returned his soul to God, murmuring a last prayer;
and we saw him go up to heaven
by a path covered with rich carpets
and resplendent with countless lights.
- You appeared glorious before God.
- Therefore the Lord has clothed you with splendor.

Let us pray:
O God, who honored the precious death of the Most Holy Father Benedict
by so many and admirable favors,
grant us, we beg you,
the grace that he whose memory we celebrate,
come at the hour of our death
to strengthen us against the snares of the Enemy,
by his blessed presence.
Through Jesus, Christ, our Lord. AMEN.
