One who gets used to reciting this psalm daily after morning prayer, will thus prepare himself to live in a pure and righteous way so that he can undertake many good remunerative works.

129.1
Song of degrees. They oppressed me enough from my youth, Israel say so!
129.2
They oppressed me enough from my youth, But they did not overcome me.
129.3
Plowmen have plowed my back, They have made long furrows in it.
129.4
The Lord is righteous: He cut the cords of the wicked.
129.5
Let them be confused and turn back, All who hate Zion!
129.6
May they be like the grass of the roofs, Which withers before it is pulled up!
129.7
The reaper does not fill his hand with it; he who binds the sheaves does not load his arm with it,
129.8
And the passers-by do not say, The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We bless you in the name of the Lord!
