for deceased
God of spirits and of every flesh, you who trampled death and annihilated the devil, you who gave life to the world that is yours;
give thyself, O Lord, to the soul of thy deceased servant (Name) rest in a luminous place, in a green place, in a place of freshness, from which are far away suffering, pain and groaning . As a good and merciful God, forgive every fault he has committed by word, by deed or by thought; for there is no man who lives without sinning; since you alone are without sin, and your righteousness is righteousness forever, and your word is truth.
For Thou art the resurrection, the life and the rest of thy deceased servant (Name), O Christ our God, we give glory unto thee, with thy unbegotten Father, with thy most Holy Spirit, good and giving life, now and always and forever and ever.

Losing a loved one is often a daunting ordeal.
If we consider death as the end of biological life, it is also a passage to the fullness of real life. Praying for a deceased person is asking that he or she may experience this passage of heavenly joy. Remember these words from Sacred Scripture: "It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be delivered from their sins" (2M 12:46).
