My Jesus, who are my Judge,
forgive me before you come to judge me.
You will not despise a contrite
and humbled heart, O my God!
How happy I would be
to have never offended you!
Surely you did not deserve

Mercy comes from the Latin misereri which means to have mercy and cor (heart).
