The mother of pain was standing
and wept near the cross
to which his Son was nailed.
It was then that her downcast soul
and moaning was pierced with a sword.
Oh! how sad she was
and afflicted this dear mother of Jesus!
Trembling and sorry,
she felt in herself
the anxieties of dying instead
than to offend you mortally.
My God,
i love you with all my heart
and above all things;
I regret that I have offended you.
I hate my sins that hurt you,
you, my only
and supreme Félicité,
to whom all love and gratitude
must be returned.
In my affection for you,
I feel ready,
O good Master,
to renounce the love of all creatures
rather than offending you again.
I take the firm resolution
to accomplish your adorable will in everything
and run away from opportunities
where your divine grace would be endangered.
Lord, have mercy on me, sinner.
So be it.
