We want to remember
of all that we have experienced together:
the joys and sorrows, the work and leisure time,
the hours of friendship and the moments of trial.
For all that has been lived away from You,
we ask you to forgive us.
For all that has been lived with love,
we express our gratitude to You,
for You are the source of all love.
Make grow in our hearts
the hope of eternal life.
In this time of intense prayer
make us live already in communion with N...

Losing a loved one is often a daunting ordeal.
If we consider death as the end of biological life, it is also a passage to the fullness of real life. Praying for a deceased person is asking that he or she may experience this passage of heavenly joy. Remember these words from Sacred Scripture: "It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be delivered from their sins" (2M 12:46).
