Saint Medard or Saint Medardus was born around 457 in Salency, Picardy. He distinguished himself as a child by his tireless charity, even going so far as to take off his clothes and give them to the half-naked poor he met.
He became bishop of Noyon and it was from him that Queen Radegonde, retiring from the world, received her nun's veil.
He died at the age of almost a hundred years and many miracles took place at his tomb.
Saint Medardus is invoked to obtain a cure for tuberculosis of the intestines.

INVOCATION:
Blessed be the name of God from a century to the next, for to Him is wisdom and strength. And it is He who changes the times and the seasons; who takes away kings and establishes kings; who gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who have understanding. It is He who discovers the deep and hidden things; He knows the things that are in darkness, and the light abides with Him.
O God of our fathers, I celebrate you and I praise you, because you have given me wisdom and strength.
Saint Medardus, who helps us; always from your powerful intercession, pray for me.

PRAYER:
How merciful is your prayer, O Jesus! you prayed for those very who persecuted you, and who delivered you to the shameful and cruel death of the cross. Your soul is full of compassion for the salvation of your enemies, and your Blood provides a remedy for their wounds; each drop of this blood is a shining testimony of your infinite mercies. Your wisdom and kindness triumph over the malice and harshness of the whole world. So be it.
