Saint Maxe, this holy priest is particularly honoured in Bar-le-Duc (Meuse) of which he is the protector. There are hardly any cases in which the inhabitants of Bar-le-Duc have invoked Saint Maxe without being answered.
His intercession was particularly felt in cases of public calamities, to make rain fall during great droughts; and during periods of continuous rainfall to make them stop.
Saint Maxe is also invoked to obtain the cure of urinary tract infections.

INVOCATION:
It is to you, O my God, and to your loving providence that I surrender all that I have; and, since in all the necessities of life, and for all that is necessary for us, you have given us charitable intercessors in the saints who enjoy your presence in heaven. Deign to answer the prayers that we address to you through the intercession of Saint Maxe, so that we may bless and praise you eternally. So be it.
Saint Maxe, so powerful to help us in all our troubles and in public calamities, pray for us.

PRAYER:
Sovereign arbiter of life and death, who fix to the lightning as to the waves of the sea, limits that it never crosses, command the thunder which rumbles on our guilty heads not to exercise against us the punishments that we we deserve only too much by our infidelities and our ingratitudes; may its threatening outbursts only serve to make us reenter ourselves, implore your mercy and bear worthy fruits of penance, in order to avoid hearing this judgment pronounced against us a thousand times more dreadful than thunder: , cursed, go into a fire that will never go out. So be it.
