Devotion to the 7 sorrows and 7 Joys of Saint Joseph is in great honor among the devoted servants of the virginal husband of Mary. It was recommended by Saint Joseph himself to two shipwrecked Franciscan religious in great danger of death. They stayed three days and three nights in the midst of the waves raised by a horrible storm with no other skiff than a plank. Saint Joseph whom they had called for their help, delivered them and recommended them devotion to his seven joys and to his seven pains, promising his protection to those who would embrace this practice.

I. - O most chaste husband of Mary, glorious St. Joseph, what affliction and anguish was not in your heart, in the perplexity you were in to know whether to abandon your wife without blemish! But also how happy you were when the angel revealed to you the great mystery of the Incarnation!

We ask you, with this sorrow and with this joy, to console our hearts now and in our last pains, with the joy of a good life and a holy death, similar to yours, between Jesus and Mary.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

II. - O blessed patriarch, glorious St. Joseph, chosen to be the putative father of the Word made man, the pain you felt when you saw the birth of the Child Jesus in such great poverty, suddenly changed into heavenly joy, before the harmony of the angelic concerts and the contemplation of the wonders of that resplendent night.
We beg you, through this pain and this joy, to obtain for us, after this life, to go and hear the angelic praises and enjoy the splendours of heavenly glory.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

III. - O most obedient observer of the divine laws, glorious St. Joseph, the precious Blood which the Redeemer as a child shed in circumcision pierced your heart; but the name of Jesus which he then received brought you back to life and filled you with joy.
By this sorrow and joy, grant that we may live far from sin, so that we may die joyfully with the most holy Name of Jesus in our hearts and on our lips.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

IV. - O most faithful Saint, the confidant of the mysteries of our redemption, glorious Saint Joseph, if the prophecy of Simeon, concerning the sufferings that Jesus and Mary were to endure, caused you mortal pain, it also filled you with joy, announcing at the same time the salvation and the glorious resurrection that would result for many souls.
Through this sorrow and joy, may we be among those who, in view of the merits of Jesus and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, must be gloriously resurrected.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

V. - O watchful Guardian, intimate friend of the incarnate Son of God, glorious St. Joseph, how much did you suffer to nourish and serve the Son of the Most High, especially in your flight into Egypt! But how happy you were to have this God with you always and to see the idols of Egypt overthrown!
By this sorrow and by this joy, obtain for us to keep the tyrant of the underworld away from us forever, especially by fleeing from dangerous occasions, and to overthrow in our hearts every idol of earthly affections, so that, fully occupied in serving Jesus and Mary, we may live only for them and die in the joy of their love.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

VI. - O angel of the earth, glorious St. Joseph, who was able to admire the King of heaven, subject to your every will; if the joy of bringing him back from Egypt was troubled by the fear of Archelaus, soon, reassured by the Angel, you were happy to remain in Nazareth with Jesus and Mary.
Through this pain and joy, obtain for us the removal of all harmful fear from our hearts, the peace of conscience, the happiness of living with Jesus and Mary and dying with them.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

VII. - O model of all holiness, glorious St. Joseph, having lost the Child Jesus through no fault of your own, you searched for him for three days, immersed in deep sorrow, until, full of joy, you found the one who was your life in the temple among the doctors.
With this sorrow and joy, we beg you, with all our hearts and mouths, to intercede for us, so that we may not lose Jesus through any serious fault. If we have this immense misfortune, let us seek him with a pain that leaves us no rest until we find him again, especially at our death, so that we may go to heaven to possess him and sing his divine mercies with you eternally.
A Pater, a Hail Mary and a Gloria Patri.

Antiphon: Jesus was about thirty years old, and was thought to be the son of Joseph.
V/. Pray for us, St. Joseph.
R/. That we may become worthy of the promises of Jesus Christ.

Let us pray: O God, who, by an admirable providence, has deigned to choose blessed Joseph to be the bridegroom of your most holy Mother, we beg you to grant that, worshipping him on earth as our protector, we deserve to have him as our intercessor in heaven. You who live and reign forever and ever. So be it.

Protection

Protective prayers are prayers that aim to protect from the action of the forces of evil, as the name suggests. The minions of the evil one and all their spawn spend all their time attacking the children of God. By praying regularly for divine protection, you place yourself under the protection of the Most High, the One who is above all, the One before whom every knee bends. Thus, by praying the prayers of protection, God annihilates for you, in one way or another, all the attacks of malevolent forces.

By using God's power to protect you, you can embark on your endeavours with confidence that you will succeed, because God will deal with the negative forces that would try to harm you.

We all know the adage that says "the enemy never sleeps". touteslesprieres.com gathers through the keyword protection, all the prayers of protection which can be useful for you for this or that situation of the life.

With these prayers, have recourse with assurance to the protection of the Almighty who will strike down all entities that would try to obstruct your projects and your undertakings.

Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph, the husband of Mary, is a special saint because he received from God the mission to take care of Jesus and Mary.

St Joseph is recognised for his many virtues: justice, chastity, prudence, courage, obedience, fidelity, patience, humility...

Of all the saints," said Leo XIII in the encyclical Quanquam pluries, "he is the highest to heaven, after Jesus and Mary. St. Joseph is one of the few saints to be celebrated twice a year: on 19 March and 1 May.

Leo XIII officially named St. Joseph the "patron saint of heads of families and craftsmen" (1889).

Why pray to Saint Joseph?
