This prayer is to be said for a loved one who has died.

Lord our God, you who never cease to love us, we pray you, welcome N... with all the tenderness of your Fatherly heart, and make him/her live in your light and in your peace.

Look upon us who loved her/him, and give us courage and strength to continue our journey towards you.

May he/she rest in peace.

Losing a loved one is often a daunting ordeal.
If we consider death as the end of biological life, it is also a passage to the fullness of real life. Praying for a deceased person is asking that he or she may experience this passage of heavenly joy. Remember these words from Sacred Scripture: "It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be delivered from their sins" (2M 12:46).
