SaintsThis young soldier, Saint Victor of Marseilles, a disciple of Jesus Christ, strongly affirmed his faith and suffered atrocious torments. Emperor Maximian had him dragged by the feet and pursued by the booing of a furious rabble. Then he had him laid on an easel and tore his body apart. Then he had him cut off a foot which the martyr offered to Jesus.
INVOCATION:
Do, we beseech you, O Almighty God, that after having admired the courage of Saint Victor of Marseilles in the confession of your holy name, we will experience the effectiveness of his prayers to be preserved and assisted in the plagues that threaten us. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Victor, protect us from the scourges which threaten us and from the iniquities which attract us.
PRAYER:
O my Savior Jesus crucified! So it is now well established that your mercy surpasses the measure of our crimes, and that your benevolence towards penitent sinners is brighter than the sun. Strengthen therefore my confidence in your merits and in your redemption; so that I may also obtain forgiveness of my sins. And certainly, the Heavenly Father will receive us as his children, after you have accomplished a work so meritorious and so pleasing to his heart. So be it.
