Saint Peter of Alcantara, after brilliant studies, entered the order of Saint Francis. His life is an example of austerity. He barely ate bread and water, hardly slept and still in a position that did not favour rest, and also inflicted all kinds of penances on himself, each one harder than the last.
The monks, marvelling at his holiness, appointed him superior of their convent.
After his death, he appeared to Saint Teresa, whom he had helped all his life with his advice and example, and said to her: "O blessed penance which has brought me so much glory. »
Saint Teresa revealed that God could refuse nothing to those who would ask for graces through the intercession of Saint Peter of Alcantara.
St. Peter of Alcantara is invoked against sclerosis of the arteries.

INVOCATION:
O eternal God! who do not disdain to look at us, to lead us, unworthy as we are, and who give us such effective protectors in your saints, and particularly in Saint Peter of Alcantara, your faithful servant, I urge you , O my God, to answer me and to grant me the grace which I ask, by his intercession, of your infinite goodness. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Peter of Alcantara, Almighty with God, be my refuge in all my troubles.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus Christ, no pain can compare to your pain. O my good Master, it was not drop by drop, but in great streams that your blood flowed from your body, and to all your limbs: from your hands and feet in the crucifixion; of your head in the crown of thorns; with your whole body in the scourging, and with your very heart when it was pierced with a spear.
I know it, Lord, I certainly know it: you wanted, by shedding all this blood, to show me the excess of your love for me! Through your Passion, have mercy on me. So be it.
