Spirituality eternal life for deceasedPrayer for eternal life, for the remission of sins, for the salvation of souls, to be preserved from hell.
God our Father, you want all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. We pray to You for the eternal salvation of all those who can and will be saved until the end of the world. Free us from mortal sins, those evil fruits of our passions.
Save us from sinning against the Holy Spirit who forms the hard core of hell. Rip our hearts out of the spiral of illusion and despair. Teach us to resist to the point of blood in our struggle against evil. Open our eyes to the wiles of the Evil One who disguises himself as an angel of light and tempts us under the appearance of good. We entrust to you especially the most hardened perverts so that where sin abounds, grace may superabound. Together with the Virgin Mary, the saints, and the whole Church, we offer You prayers, renunciations, acts of faith, hope and charity for them.
In the name of the Lord Jesus, our beloved Saviour, in the name of His Passion, descent into hell and resurrection, give the grace of the Holy Spirit to the most lost souls so that they may be delivered from their blindness. Since the Spirit intercedes for us with ineffable groans, let him come and wash what is unclean, soften what is stiff, straighten what is crooked, in our hearts as in the hearts of all our fellow men, redeemed by the blood of Christ, he who lives and reigns with you in the communion of the Holy Spirit now and for ever and ever. Amen.

Losing a loved one is often a daunting ordeal.
If we consider death as the end of biological life, it is also a passage to the fullness of real life. Praying for a deceased person is asking that he or she may experience this passage of heavenly joy. Remember these words from Sacred Scripture: "It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be delivered from their sins" (2M 12:46).
