O God, who created the Heavens and the Earth, and who, by your providence, cause Heaven to respond to Earth, and Earth to respond to Heaven; who make the rain come down from Heaven on the Earth, who warmed it by your Sun to make it fertile, we ask you to want to make it produce the fruits which we need for the maintenance of our life.
It is true, Lord, that we should deserve that you make him bear only thorns and thistles, since we do not bring back the fruits of righteousness which you expect from us; we are this vine which you cultivated with so much care, and which brings you only lambruches, and wild bunches, and we are like this fig tree which your Beloved cursed, because he found no fruit.
We therefore admit that we deserve to be entirely abandoned by you; but for the love of your Beloved, forgive us all these sins, and come and effect our conversion by your Spirit, so that we may be fruitful trees, which bear fruit suitable for repentance. Bless our earth, may it be full of your goods, may it produce all that is necessary for our food. Preserve the fruits which you have granted him the grace to produce, and give us in his season a happy harvest, but do that we never abuse your goods, that on the contrary, we make good use of them, by making share with the poor what you have given us, until you raise us up in this new land, where we will not need anything for our sustenance, and where we will be nourished by the fruits of the tree of life, and watered with the new wine of Ion Kingdom.
