O my God, I am all covered with shame, when I think of Your Holiness, and of my sins. You created me in your image, and I let it disfigure. You told me of your glory and I only have mine of my own. You enlightened me with your knowledge, and I did not walk in your light. You gave me holy laws and I broke them.
You showered me with your possessions and I abused them. You consoled me with your promises and I fell asleep in criminal security. I have been attentive to my temporal interests and very ardent in the affairs of the earth; but I have been very slow for my salvation and to advance the reign of your Son. I loved the world more than I should love it, on the other hand, I loved you coldly, you deserve to be loved with infinite love. My body and my soul are yours; and I have not glorified him by these two parts of myself. I have committed the sins of pride, of malice, of infirmity, of oversight, of lust. I have strayed from the holiness that you prescribe to me, in my words, in my actions, in my thoughts. My iniquities have overcome my head and become heavy like a heavy burden. O my God, forgive me, O my God, be gracious to me, turn away your face from my sins and blot out my iniquities; and you, Divine Jesus, who call those who are charged, cover me with your righteousness and give rest to my soul. Amen.
