Prayer to be preserved from sudden death

Blessed Virgin, obtain for me, through your Perpetual Help, to preserve my presence of spirit until my last moments to suffer with merit in union with the pains of Jesus Christ, if it is his will.
Obtain for me the grace to prepare myself now for a good death, for I know neither the day nor the hour when God will decide to call me back to Him. I am a sinner, and I am not worthy to appear before your Son in this state, so I ask you to protect me from a sudden death which would throw me unprepared at the feet of the Sovereign Judge.

Give me time to prepare myself to strengthen my soul by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, and to atone for all my sins. May I have a priest near me in my last moments to give me the last sacraments. Help me to grow each day in the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and intercede for me so that, after a complete sacrifice of my life, I may die confidently pronouncing the holy names of "Jesus, Mary and Joseph. »
And when I am no longer of this world, O Mother, deign to inspire many souls with the charitable thought of praying for me, so that I may soon go to Heaven to sing your mercies and contemplate Jesus, and pray in the eternity of his glory, until the end of time.
O Blessed Virgin, my Heavenly Mother, obtain for me at last the grace to make this prayer to you every day of my life.

Remember also, Lord, the faithful who have passed away; and in consideration of the merits of your Son, give them a place of refreshment, light and peace. So be it.

Deliver us, Lord, from sudden and unexpected death.
