Great Saint Anthony, I congratulate you on all the prerogatives with which God has favoured you among all the Saints. Death is disarmed by your power, error is dispelled by your light; those whom malice strives to overwhelm receive by your help the relief so longed for; the lepers, the sick and the crippled obtain their healing by your virtue; the storms and tempests of the sea are calmed by your
command; The chains of captives are broken by your authority; lost things are found by your care; all those who invoke you with confidence are freed from the evils they endure and the perils that threaten them; finally, there is no necessity over which your power and your goodness do not extend.
O Saint Anthony, powerful intercessor, by all these graces which Heaven has bestowed upon you, I beseech you to take eternal care of my soul, my body, my affairs and my whole life, assured that nothing in the world can harm me, so long as I am under the guidance and protection of such a Patron and Protector.
Recommend my needs and present my miseries to the hero of mercies, the God of all consolation, so that through your merits he may deign to strengthen me in his service, to console me in my afflictions, to deliver me from my troubles, or at least to give me the strength to bear them for my greater sanctification. I ask in the same pains and in the same dangers.
O perfect imitator of Jesus Christ, who has received the special privilege of repairing losses, I beg you to restore to me the will of God; or at least the rest of my spirit and the peace of my conscience, the deprivation of which afflicts me more greatly than the loss of all the things of the world... To these favours, add another, which is to keep me firm in the possession of true interior and hidden goods; so that no enemy force may make me lose them and separate me from my God, to whom be honour and thanksgiving, now and always.
So be it.
