SaintsSaint Odo, Odon or Eudes, son of a noble family, was born around 870. Very pious, he was ordained priest at the age of 19 and, seduced by the severity of the rule of Saint Benedict, he entered the monastic orders. An example of the quality of his obedience and his trust in God is shown by the Rule of Saint Benedict: The Rule of Saint Benedict specifies that at the sound of the bell, monks must leave everything, even a half-spoken word. One day when he was outside correcting a book written about the life of St. Martin with one of the monks, the bell rang. He left the book where it was. It rained all night, but the next day, despite the amount of water that had fallen, the book was intact.
INVOCATION:
How good and gentle you are to us, O Jesus our Savior, who continually renew the face of the earth, who make your sun shine, and pour your rain on the good and on the wicked themselves, in order to bring them back to you by the excess of your benefits; deign to open our souls to your divine grace, and may the prayers of Saint Odo never cease to intercede for us. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Odo, be auspicious for us, and obtain for us, by your prayers, a favorable time, and the cure of our diseases.
PRAYER:
Blessed spirits, princes of the heavenly court, august ministers of the majesty of God, who have the charity to descend from heaven to earth to announce to men his adorable wills, and to lead them to love, serve and honor this adorable sovereign: serve I advocate with the throne of his mercy, to obtain the forgiveness of my sins, and then to enjoy with you the delights of eternity. So be it.
