SaintsSaint Israel is invoked against claudication. Saint Israel at his birth was called Jacob and was the son of Isaac. One day Jacob saw a man come to him, with whom he fought all night. In the morning, Jacob saw that it was an angel, and the angel said to him, "You will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel. "And he touched a nerve in his thigh, and the nerve dried up. And Jacob began to drink.
INVOCATION:
O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, who sitteth between the cherubim; you alone are the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; you made the heavens and the earth. O Lord incline thy ear, and hear; O Lord, open your eyes and see.
Saint Israel, in remembrance of your struggle, you who are invoked with confidence to be healed, pray for me.
PRAYER:
O good Jesus! pierced with nails and wounded with an ungodly spear, how many times, overcome by my tears, my complaints and my sighs, have you poured the balm of your mercies on my wounded heart and almost devoid of all hope? How many times have you relieved his helplessness with your love and kindness, and accepted his request when he begged your forgiveness? I recognized your love, O Jesus! to that chalice of your passion which you have drunk so generously, and to the work of my redemption, which you have so charitably accomplished. For such a blessing, you need all my love. It is there that my piety and devotion find their sweetest appeal; This is the strongest bond that binds you to the last fibers of my heart. From your humiliations, your wounds, your annihilation which veil your high dignity from our eyes, emerge the most dazzling rays of your grace. So be it.
