Symbolism Dragonfly

This very ancient insect has an incredibly uniform symbolism in all parts of the world. 

For the Japanese, the dragonfly symbolizes new joy and light, and in many traditions it is depicted as the new form assumed by the dragons of old. When the dragonfly makes its appearance, it is time to trust in the power of light. 

Dragonflies have faceted eyes; they detect the slightest variations in light, the smallest movements. When it appears, we perceive the most subtle changes in our lives. They remind us that our perceptions vary in intensity, and these are of a rare accuracy and acuity at the moment. 

Dragonflies inhabit two different worlds - the worlds of air and water. The appearance of this insect signals that it is time to emerge from our chrysalis, to emerge from the waters of immaturity and reveal our true nature. Our intuitions are powerful, and this is a good time to freely express what we have matured over the past year. We can rely upon our intuitions and the strength of our inner light to succeed. Our efforts are maturing. Now is the time to shine. The dragonfly reminds us that we are light and that we have the freedom to shine mightily if we see fit to do so. This is the perfect time to allow our creative imagination to express itself. 

Life never has the face it presents, yet the dragonfly helps us not to be fooled by illusions. Transformation and maturity are at the turning point. Visions full of freshness and liveliness should give us confidence. The sun and light will be reflected in all our activities, especially those related to healing, transformation, creativity and guidance. Our work will be recognized and sought after by others. 

On the negative side, we may not have a clear view of things; we would do well to remove the dust from our eyes, or someone may mislead us. Appearance does not correspond to reality, and it is necessary to take a closer look at it. The dragonfly indicates a need to conquer our emotional balance. We may need to give ourselves air.
