Prayer to Saint Benedict and to Saint Scholastica for families

O Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica,
you were brother and sister,
and both of you have attained sanctity.
Remembering your fraternal friendship,

deign to help our families,
so that they are united as you are
in the same faith and love of God,
and become centres of holiness.
By the merits of your life
entirely dedicated to Christ,
get us to follow the way of the Gospel
in fidelity to the Church,
and to seek God together,
through religious practice and prayer in common.
May our families pray a lot, following your example,
to progress in unity and love.
Help us to live in esteem and mutual respect,
by seeing Christ Jesus in each of our loved ones.
Make us more generous to forgive,
more attentive to listen, more open to welcome.
May we preserve peace through charity.
You whose heart was so compassionate,
Comfort families in difficulty,
those affected by unemployment,
illness, or the loss of loved ones.
Help separated spouses,
Unloved children, neglected parents.
Protect young people, preserve vocations.
Ensure the safety of our homes,
and implore peace for all the families of the world.
Be with us at the hour of our death,
with Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
and get us to open up
to the mercy of God,
that he may give us grace
to find ourselves together in the abode of heaven,
to live eternally happy
with him, our very good Father,
and his Son, Christ Jesus our Brother,
and their Spirit of love.
