Saint Sigismund of Burgundy, this blessed prince, is invoked in favour of people suffering from elephantiasis.
Sigismund, son of Gondebaud, revered as a saint, was king of the Burgundians from 516 to 523. Attached to Arianism by his family, he converted to Catholicism between 502 and 506 under the influence of Avit, bishop of Vienna. Associated with royalty in 513 with the title of prince, he took over and enlarged the famous abbey of Agaune (today Saint-Maurice in the Valais). Clodomir, who coveted his kingdom, had him killed with his wife and children under the pretext that they were Christians and had them cruelly martyred.

INVOCATION:
Lord, you have tried me and you know me perfectly.
In suffering and in health I am also present in your eyes. Give us today, as intercessor, Blessed Saint Sigismund, and grant us our healing in view of the merits and prayers of the blessed martyr whom we venerate. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Sigismund, be auspicious to us and deliver us.

O ineffable passion of my Jesus! O deep wounds of my Jesus! O precious blood of my Jesus! who flowed so abundantly for me, you will always henceforth be my only consolation and the joy of my heart. O most bitter death of my Jesus, give me eternal life. So be it.
