Litanies
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Make my heart like yours.
Of my own will, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be esteemed, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be affectionate, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be sought, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be honored, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be praised, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be preferred, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be consulted, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be approved, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be understood, deliver me, Lord
From the desire to be visited, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being humiliated, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being despised, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being rejected, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being slandered, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being forgotten, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being mocked, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being suspected, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being abused, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being forsaken, deliver me, Lord
From the fear of being refused, deliver me, Lord
But Lord, grant me the fear of displeasing You, of sinning, of not loving You more than anything
May others be loved more than me, grant me, Lord, to desire it
May others be esteemed more than me, grant me, Lord, to desire it
May others grow in opinion and I diminish, grant me, Lord, to desire it
May others be praised and may I be forgotten, grant me, Lord, that I desire it
May others be employed and I be set aside, grant me, Lord, to desire it
May others be preferred in all, grant me, Lord, to desire it
May others be holier than me, as long as I am as holy as I can be,
grant me, Lord, to desire it
To be unknown and poor, Lord, I want to rejoice,
To be devoid of the natural perfections of body and mind, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Let no one think of me, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Take care of the lowest jobs, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Let no one even deign to use me, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Never ask my opinion, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Let me be in the last place, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Never give me a compliment, Lord, I want to be happy,
Blame me in time and in wrong, Lord, I want to rejoice,
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Let us pray:
My God, I am only ash and dust. Suppress the movements of pride that rise in my soul. Teach me to despise myself, You who resists the superb and who gives Your Grace to the humble. By Jesus, meek and humble of heart. Amen.

Litanies are prayers characterised by the chanted repetition of intercessory requests. These intercessory requests are generally addressed to the Virgin Mary, the Sacred Heart or the Saints and are intended to solicit their intercession with God.
When to recite the litanies and what are they for?
The litanies are generally recited individually, depending on the difficulty for which help is desired, in groups (in families or in prayer groups) and in certain solemn liturgical ceremonies of the Catholic Church.
The Litanies of the Saints for example, are sung during the Easter Vigil, during baptism ceremonies, priestly or episcopal ordinations and on the feast of the Saints (All Saints).
The prayer of the Litany is foreseen, in particular, during the Easter Vigil, before the blessing of the baptismal water, and also during the celebration of baptism and ordinations to the sacred order of the episcopate, presbyterate and diaconate, as well as in the rite of the consecration of virgins and of religious profession in the rite of dedication of a church and an altar, during rogations, during Masses with stations and during penitential processions, to order the Evil One away in exorcisms, and finally to recommend the dying to the mercy of God.
The Litany of the Saints, which contains elements from both liturgical tradition and popular piety, illustrates the Church's trust in the intercession of the Saints, and highlights her experience of the communion that unites the Church in the heavenly Jerusalem and the Church still on pilgrimage on earth. It is permitted to invoke in the Litany of the Saints the names of those listed in the liturgical calendars of dioceses and religious institutes.
It is evident that it is forbidden to insert in the Litanies the names of persons whose cult is not recognised.
