SaintsSaint Sebastian was born in Narbonne around 260 A.D. An intrepid defender of the faith and the Church, he was pierced with arrows at the behest of Diocletian. Left for dead, a Christian lady took him in and he was providentially healed.
INVOCATION:
Lord our God, let yourselves be moved by our prayers and our offerings in honor of Saint Sebastian, and deliver us from all kinds of dangers through the intercession of your blessed martyr. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Sebastian, deliver us, by your prayers and your help, from contagious diseases, especially polio, and the scourge of war.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, cast your eyes on your sweet Son who suffered so much for us. See, Lord, who is he who suffers, and for whom he suffers.
It is Jesus Christ, your innocent son, who suffers to redeem me, your slave, covered with sins. He who is the source of life, allowed himself to be led to torture like a lamb, and obedient to death, was willing to die the most cruel death. Your Son, the one whom you have eternally begotten from your substance, has deigned to take upon himself all my weaknesses. Forgive us, my God, our faults and our weaknesses. So be it.
