You showed us the strength of your love, Lord, when your Son wanted to suffer for us until he died on a cross. Today, we still count on your tenderness and your power: Grant to N ... to share in Christ's victory over death and to commune with his resurrected life for ever and ever.

Most holy father,
We urge you for N ..., your servant whom you brought from this world to you: forgive him his mistakes, erase his sins; welcome him / her to the abode of happiness, light and peace.
May death be for him/her the open door to light.
We beseech you, Lord, that he/she does not suffer from any evil, but resurrects with all your friends, on the day of resurrection and of the reward, not to know death any more and to live with you for ever centuries.

You promised, Lord, infinite happiness to those who first seek the Kingdom of Heaven. Sure of your Word, we pray for our brothers and our sisters. May they enter now into your joy, into this everlasting Kingdom of peace and love, and may they live with you forever and ever.

Living and holy God, you want men created in your image to always live with your own life. We therefore pray for all those who have left us: erase all their faults; give them the happiness of living near you and endlessly celebrating your love. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord, it took Christ, your beloved, to pass through death to overcome it before entering into his glory. Renew for your servants and your handmaidens what you have done for your own Son: that they too may be victorious over death and may contemplate in all its glory your face as Father and as Savior. Losing a loved one is often a daunting ordeal.
If we consider death as the end of biological life, it is also a passage to the fullness of real life. Praying for a deceased person is asking that he or she may experience this passage of heavenly joy. Remember these words from Sacred Scripture: "It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be delivered from their sins" (2M 12:46).
