Saints
Saint Casimir is invoked to overcome all kinds of temptations against chastity, to be preserved from impure thoughts.
We also invoke Saint Casimir to be preserved from colds.
This Polish prince knew how to avoid the traps of the world from an early age. He devoted himself to the poor and the unfortunate. He macerated his body by fasting and disciplines; he often spent his nights on the earth to preserve its purity.
INVOCATION
O God, who in the midst of the delights of the Court and the most seductive attractions in the world, have strengthened Saint Casimir with an unshakeable constancy, please, through his intercession, that your faithful despise the goods of the earth and ceaselessly yearn for those of heaven. Remove, I pray you, O my God, the temptations which afflict us, and deliver us, through the intercession of this admirable prince, from the evils with which we are overwhelmed.
We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Casimir, intercessor for all those who call on you in their temptations and their sufferings, pray for us.
PRAYER
Take my heart from me, O Jesus! and hurt him with your love; sprinkle it with your blood, and make it a temple for you. But what did I dare to ask you, reckless that I am? How can I offer you the possession of a heart that is ever restless, that loves the world, and so defiled by so many sins? Ah! Forgive me, my Savior. The grace that gushes from your blood excites my confidence, and I remember those sweet words you say to me every day: “Give me your heart. So be it.
