From David. Blessed be the Lord my rock, Who exercises my hands in battle, My fingers in battle,

My benefactor and my fortress, My high retreat and my deliverer, My shield, who is my refuge, Who subjugates my people to me!

Lord, what is man that you know him? The son of man, that you take care of him?

Man is like a breath, His days are like a passing shadow.

O LORD, lower your heavens and come down! Touch the mountains, and let them be smoking!

Shine the lightning, and scatter my enemies! Throw your arrows, and rout them!

Stretch out your hands from above; Deliver me and save me from the great waters, From the hand of the children of the stranger,

Whose mouth utters falsehood, And whose right hand is a lying right.

O God! I will sing a new song to you, I will praise you on the ten-string lute.

You who give salvation to kings, Who saved David your servant from the murderous sword,

Deliver me, and save me from the hand of the sons of foreigners, Whose mouth utters falsehood, And whose right hand is a lying right! ...

Our sons are like plants That grow in their youth; Our daughters like the sculpted columns That adorn palaces.

Our granaries are full, Overflowing with all kinds of provisions; Our flocks are multiplying by thousands, by ten thousand, In our countryside;

Our heifers are fertile; No disaster, no captivity, No shouting in our streets!

Happy are the people for whom this is so! Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!
