Saint Josemaría Escriva de Balaguer, born January 9, 1902 in Barbastro (province of Huesca in Spain), ordained priest on March 28, 1925, and died June 26, 1975 in Rome, is the founder of Opus Dei (Work of God in Latin). Himself an insulin-dependent diabetic, he is the Patron Saint of diabetics. He was miraculously cured of his diabetes following a
anaphylactic shock (violent allergic reaction) he had when changing insulin on April 27, 1954.
O God, through the mediation of Mary, you have granted innumerable graces to Saint Josemaría, priest, choosing him as a very faithful instrument to found Opus Dei, path of sanctification in professional work and the fulfillment of ordinary duties of the Christian: let me know, too, to convert all the moments and all the circumstances of my life into opportunities to love you and to serve, with joy and simplicity, the Church, the Supreme Pontiff and souls, enlightening them paths of the earth with the light of faith and love. Grant me, through the intercession of Saint Josemaría, the favor that I ask of you: ……… (my request). Amen.
