We pray to you, Lord, for your Church,
and for each of us who make up this Church.
Help us to love her as she is,
in her greatness and in her weaknesses.
Help us to recognise her unity
in the thousand faces of your people.
Help us to overcome divisions,
to avoid hasty judgements
and banish caricatures.
Help us to discover, beyond appearances
the immense network of hidden sanctity,
who are the living stones of the Church.
May your Church rediscover
the freshness and strength she needs
to proclaim the Gospel today.
By strengthening the bonds of unity
between bishops, priests and lay people
may it also strengthen Hope.
May it be seen by all
as an open door and a source of life.
May it be ever more
the Church of the poor and the saints.
We ask this through Mary, mother of the Church.
Amen.
