Husbands and nightwives are demons to which humans are bound through their sins, occult practices, or other reasons. They act on them by having sex at night. These demons take a male (incubus) or female (succubus) form and infest a person's life. We have an example of this in the book of Tobit, where the demon of lust Asmodeus bonded with Sarah and caused the death of all her successive human husbands before Archangel Raphael came to cast him out.
The prayer below is taken from the book "From darkness to light" by Jean Pliya, page 319.
To begin with, say the litanies to Archangel Raphael, and the litanies of Our Lady of deliverance.
Through the intercession and support of Saint Raphael Archangel, my Guardian Angel, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, Saint Benedict and Saint Joseph, by the precious Blood of Jesus with which I cover myself, I take a stand for the fight against demonic forces, the incubus and succubus spirits called "night husbands" and "night wives", as well as satan who oppresses me. In the Name of Jesus of Nazareth, I (say his name), daughter (or son) of Abraham, child of God by the grace of baptism, child of Mary by the Will of Jesus, I challenge you, demon asmodeus, spirit of jezabel and mammy wata, straight on me. I denounce any contract, any occult marriage which would bind me to you. By the liberating Power of the Blood of Jesus, I divorce
you, I loosen myself, I permanently sever all relationship with you. I don't like it, I reject any practical action, or any contact that you impose on me on my sexual parts in a dream or in a waking state.
In the Name of Jesus, I take authority over you unclean spirits who violate my sexual intimacy, block my marriage, render me sterile or disturb the intimacy of my marriage. I reject all the unclean practices you impose on me: prostitution, adultery, alcoholism, idolatry of money and sex.
Through Christ who "made himself a curse for me on the cross" (Ga 3, 13), I break all occult consecration, all curse or spell that weighs on me, all satanic ties or oppression. Asmodeus, spirit of jezebel, spirit of mamy wata or dalila or any other incubus or succubus spirit (say if possible the name of the deities or "voodoo" to which we have been consecrated), may the blood of the Lamb of God fill you dread and keep you away from me! and may His blood break any hold you have on me.
Jesus of Nazareth drives you out and commands you, and in his name, I also command you: go to the foot of the cross of Jesus so that he may dispose of you as He wishes and do not come back to oppress me in my private parts, in my body and in my life, for in the name of Jesus you are defeated. You no longer have any power over me. Jesus saved me and gave me victory over you.
May the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of blessing and power, fall on me! May the Blood of Jesus Christ keep me free from the children of God! Amen.
