38.1
(38: 1) Psalm of David. To remember. (38: 2) Lord! punish me not in your anger, and punish me not in your anger.

(38: 3) For your arrows have hit me, and your hand is heavy on me.

(38: 4) There is nothing healthy in my flesh because of your anger, there is no more vigor in my bones because of my sin.

(38: 5) For my iniquities are exalted above my head; Like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

(38: 6) My wounds are filthy and purulent, Because of my madness.

(38: 7) I am bowed down, downcast to the last point; All day long I walk in sadness.

(38: 8) For a burning evil devours my bowels, and there is nothing healthy in my flesh.

(38: 9) I am without strength, completely broken; The turmoil in my heart makes me moan.

(38:10) Lord! all my desires are before you, and my sighs are not hidden from you.

(38:11) My heart is troubled, my strength forsakes me, and the light of my eyes is no longer even with me.

(38:12) My friends and acquaintances move away from my wound, and my relatives stay away.

(38:13) Those who want my life set their traps; Those who seek my calamity speak wickedness, and contemplate deceit all day long.

(38:14) And I, I am like a deaf person, I do not hear; I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.

(38:15) I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth there is no reply.

(38:16) Lord! it is in you that I hope; You will answer, Lord, my God!

(38:17) For I say, Do not allow them to rejoice over me, that they rise up against me, if my foot is shaken!

(38:18) For I am near to fall, and my pain is always before me.

(38:19) For I know my iniquity, I fear because of my sin.

(38:20) And my enemies are full of life, full of strength; There are many who hate me without a cause.

(38:21) They return evil to me for good; They are my adversaries, because I seek the good.

(38:22) Do not forsake me, O Lord! My God, don't get away from me!

(38:23) Come quickly to my help, Lord, my salvation!
