I will try to say to myself on occasions: we must make the measure of charity overflow.
If self-love says, "I must defend my rights," I will answer, "I must make the measure of charity overflow.
If laziness says: I need rest, I will answer: the measure of charity must be made to overflow.
If the prudence of the flesh says that one should not be lavish in order not to lose one's value, I will answer: the measure of charity must be made to overflow.
If I am embarrassed, disturbed, tired, I will still say to myself: courage! We must make the measure of charity overflow.
Then, in my turn, when I need help, advice, correction, consolation, perhaps forgiveness, help for the body or for the soul, for myself or for my brothers, I will say to Jesus:
Good Master, you have promised to give us the same measure: you too must make the measure of charity overflow.

Jesus Christ is a central figure in Christianity. He is regarded as the incarnation of God.
