Give me a good digestion, Lord
and also something to digest.
Give me a healthy body,
help me to keep it at its best.
Give me a holy soul, Lord
with an eye for beauty and purity,
so that it does not shudder at the sight of sin,
but knows how to put things right.
Give me a soul that knows no boredom,
groaning and sighing.
Do not let me worry too much
for this cumbersome thing I call myself.
Lord, give me humour,
so that I can get something out of this life
and share it with others.
Amen.
