God, whose love has no end,
your only Son was delivered into the hands of the wicked,
and he healed us with the blood of his cross.
May he unite with his own suffering
the sufferings of those who have been abused by priests
by servants of your Church
or by parents who have betrayed your love,
and whose sin shames us.
May Christ hear the cries of the abused,
soothe their fears with faith in your protection,
their doubts, by trusting in your love,
their anger by trusting in your healing mercy.
Grant to all the pastors of your Church
compassion to protect your faithful
the strength to guide your flock
and the wisdom to model their lives
on Christ, the Good Shepherd.
God of justice and compassion
protect all your children from abuse,
and deliver us from hatred.
May we seek only justice and truth,
and trust in your endless mercy.
Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts
heal the wounds of your people,
grant us courage and wisdom,
humility and grace,
to act justly and find peace in you.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
