Saint William of Æbelholt was born in Paris in 1105; he made brilliant studies at the convent of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. First a canon in Sainte-Geneviève, he then retired to the convent of the canons regular of Saint-Augustin.
The King of Denmark asked Paris for a personality capable of reforming a monastery that had fallen into disuse. Saint William was sent to fulfill this most thankless task. The monks of the monastery, unhappy at being shaken and watched, fought to make him leave. But Saint William's patience, his humility and his austerities finally changed the spirit of the religious who returned to the narrow path that it is necessary to take to follow Jesus. God showered Saint William with his blessings, giving him the power to work miracles.
Saint William is called upon to obtain healing from cataracts.

INVOCATION:
Lord, who are our God, grant us the grace to honor, with persevering devotion, the virtues and merits of Saint William, in order to obtain by his prayers the healing of the pains that torment us; Above all, grant us the grace, O my God, to imitate his humility and his charity during our life, so that we may also enjoy the happiness of praising you throughout Eternity through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint William, who love to heal those who call on you from their ills, pray for us.

PRAYER:
O Jesus, full of tender concern for your disciples, you tell them to watch and to pray, so as not to fall into temptation. I implore your help, O my Savior! For I fear to find, in the things of the earth, an occasion of sin, and to succumb to the snares of the enemy, under the vain pretext of satisfying the legitimate needs of my body, from which I shall soon be led to confuse what is holy with what is not. My desires, which without your help are so capricious and so mobile, are very easily defiled by sin; and without great attention on my part, the spiritual part of my being would soon materialize, attaching itself to the earth: for as soon as my mind leans towards the things of the world, it turns away from the heavenly goods; and very easily then the purity of my soul can be disturbed, and my will, which must be entirely consecrated to you, can easily contract some defilements. So be it.
