Saints
Saint Frederick is celebrated on September 3 and 13. This holy priest gave his whole life the example of the most beautiful virtues; he was honored by all, and the people kept him in veneration for a long time. The story of his miracles spread through the lands and the sick came from far and wide to be healed.
He excelled in reconciling divided families and never left two enemies without reconciling them.
Saint Frederick is invoked for all kinds of diseases. It is especially invoked by the deaf who want to regain the use of hearing.
INVOCATION
We beseech you, Lord, through the intercession of Saint Frederick, to grant us the healing which we come to implore at your feet. May we, O my God, hear your mercies and goodnesses celebrated and join our praises to those addressed to you by your faithful servants. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Frederick, who is invoked with such success for the healing of deafness, pray for us.
PRAYER
My God; henceforth I will consider myself as the minister of your providence, and as the dispenser of your graces to the poor; to relieve them, I will cut off all the profusion and the crazy expenses, which have become the only bond of society among the followers of the world. Isn't it fair, great God! that I repair, by holy largesse, the criminal use which I have made up to now of the goods which I only hold from you, and which you gave me only to relieve those who suffer in hunger and misery? The poor will therefore now be the most indispensable object of my care. May I, Lord, live in abundance, while the poor, my brethren, the suffering members of Jesus Christ your Son, languish in the horrors of hunger and want? I will watch over their needs, O my God; I will ease their sorrows; my most delicious food will be that which I will cut off to satiate them; I will wipe away their tears; and in the innocent joy they will feel at seeing themselves thus rescued, they will thank you, great God! for having given them such favorable assistance in the charity of those who serve you; and far from seeing the rich as unjust captors, they will bless them as their protectors and their fathers. So be it.
